Ferncliff offers traditional Sri Lankan food and a selection of Western Dishes with locally sourced ingredients, including herbs and vegetables from the Ferncliff gardens. We have a selection of soups, main courses and homemade desserts, including a very popular homemade ice cream that will keep you coming back for more. We also have a selection of in-betweens that include waffles, scones, and other delights. Our Ferncliff High Tea – a handpicked BOPF (grade of tea), complete with freshly baked scones, homemade beef and mustard sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, homemade ginger biscuits and all requisite trimmings, such as fresh cream and Franciscan strawberry jam, is also very popular. For those who love Sri Lankan food, try our homemade Black Pork Curry that was featured in The Guardian.

 

“Another great dish, but from southern Sri Lanka, is the moist, deep-flavoured hill country pork curry. It’s prepared with a host of spices including roasted fenugreek seeds, cinnamon and goraka – a souring and thickening fruit paste similar in flavour to tamarind – plus the usual mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chilli powder and fragrant curry leaves. The Ferncliff Bungalow, a period bungalow with six guest rooms among tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya, does a great version that packs a fiery punch.”
